IAOS is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization since 2006
Dr. Sita Mulukutla has always had a profound love for science. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry in 1970, at a time when it was still uncommon for Indian women to receive higher education, and worked as a chemist in pharmaceutical labs. But she also has a matching love: education.
So in 2006, Dr. Sita founded Irving Art of Science (IAOS) to inspire a love for science in young children through education. She adopted a hands-on, interactive teaching model that brings students joy. Her passion is to not only educate children on scientific principles and current environmental issues but also to show them the beauty and art in science.
In 2008, Dr. Sita took the first 12 IAOS students to the Indian Science Congress where they presented projects on energy conservation, including solar energy for villages and water purification systems. Upon return, Dr. Sita expanded the workshop to teach science, engineering, and technology in a fun and exciting way.
Now, IAOS has after-school elementary programs, weekend classes, and summer camps for students 2-12.
Irving Art of Science empowers students in science, engineering and technology while teaching them the most important thing: how to think. Through hands-on education, IAOS turns students into the innovators of tomorrow.
Our goal is to give children the necessary tools to succeed in science, learning in general, and life. This comes from our fun and challenging curriculum that gives hands-on experience to our students, both from labs and from being in front of the board discussing what they learned. They also learn how to type lab reports and summaries to explain everything they have learned. Our program will give them the confidence they need to be successful in science class, in the rest of their scholastic career, and in their future life. This program teaches them the most important thing, how to think, which turns them into the innovators of tomorrow.
